FAQ

Here are some answers to common questions we get asked:

BRAVE //  01

- Is everything done in-house or is it subbed out?

  • Everything from our 1st phone call to Final report delivered to the adjuster is done in house.

  • The only time BRAVE uses companies outside of our own is for example, the Homeowner has a custom Drape or Interior designing company, we will coordinate with them to collect data such as price per square inch or square yard.

- How many members do you have on your team?

Employees:

B.R.A.V.E.  is compromised of seven employees. We have 4 field inspectors each specializing in a wealth of knowledge-from Military historical warfare, to accurate appraisal of art work, 3 transcriptionists and appraisers as well as a wine appraiser, highly skilled antique vendor used out of New Milford, Connecticut.

What softwares do you use?

Some carriers require Xactimate 28 or Xacti-Contents. We use this method for general items when requested.

We are also proficient in Assured, Excel.

Transcription:

Inventories are performed and ultimately typed into B.R.A.V.E.’s Excel spreadsheet formatted to easily present the claim. The Excel includes columns to specify important appraisal information including separating brands, vendors, and where needed we have a column to indicate specialty items.  These specialty items may consist of antique, vintage, or questionable items.  Our goal at B.R.A.V.E. is to be highly detailed and on questionable items we will indicate any pre-existing damages, suggestions for refinishing or restoring as well as any damage determinations.

Services:

We provide physical inventories meaning a room by room documentation of each affected item.  B.R.A.V.E. will provide detailed photographs, brands, materials, conditions and measurements as these factors may affect a price differential.  B.R.A.V.E. can also offer a face to face or over the phone inventory for houses that have completely burned where a physical inventory is not available.

Furthermore, we offer our services to help research and provide restoration vendors by specialties if that is needed for a claim.  For example, some vendors we have been asked to coordinate in the past include a horologist, piano conservator, dry cleaning, moving companies, antique restoration and paper conservationist to name a few.

Valuation:

When it comes time to valuation we find it necessary to apply links per line item in an effort to provide the most accurate appraisal supported by documentation.

- What is your territory for on-site inspections?

 out west

Our team handles claims Nationwide, from New England as well as going further Southeast and out West to California, to name a few. We have traveled nationwide for years, and are willing to travel to accommodate any territory need.

- Are you able to desk adjust an inventory based off of photos or simple descriptions?

  • Yes. We can create an inventory from the ground up with minimal data. In doing so, turnaround time will differ, as we might need to collect pricing driving information from the Homeowner, or do extensive amount of research to better suite lesser descriptions and deliver a more accurate appraisal.

- What is your typical turnaround time?

  • 9-12 days.* from the 1st day on site, to delivering adjusters a final report for Coverage C.

*BRAVE’s turnaround time is based on a non issue factor. Factors such as BFS (Burned from Site) Lists, recreation lists from the ground up, and communication from all parties involved will cause each claim to differentiate. We note these type of speed bumps accordingly through our initial onsite to communication with the claims handler.
